The Time Machine
What if you could face, feel, and heal from your past? You can, in a sense, travel back in time and attempt to heal from the wounds you've received or given. Inspired by countless gauges and machinery I've photographed over the years in vintage stores, and images from a Russian photographer friend of mine, I put these elements together to create a handmade time machine, cobbled together from Russian and American technology. It's powered by human emotion and nostalgia. Some of the elements feature lines of poetry written by a friend, focussing on the theme of lament: not avoiding, but facing our past hurts. Multiple panels of hand-cut collage, acrylic and pencil color on masonite, framed. Overall size: 60.75 x 50.5 x 2.5".
