The story of a hundred-year-old house and the couple who gave it new life.
I created a piece of art using surprising remnants found during the renovation. Then I used augmented reality to bring it all to life.
Meet Kit and Debra's home, Lazarus House. Left: the original home when purchased. Right: after the renovation.
During the renovation process, layers of old wallpaper were discovered. They entrusted this to me to create a piece of art that told the story of their home.
They also gave me examples of their inspiration, sketches and ideas which influenced the new home design.
I then flipped the traditional use of wallpaper as a background and made it the hero, featuring their notes, sketches and images as the background elements.
Using augmented reality, viewers can navigate through the piece to explore the elements. The owners now have a new tool to walk their guests through the inspiration and story of the artwork, and their home. Music by DivKid.
Installation day with myself and the happy new recipients.
